The Supreme Court has rescued India from bad governance.

Supreme court has rescued India from bad governance.

It is unfair on the part of Parsa Venkateshwar Rao Jr ( DNA,12/3/12)
to say that the Supreme Court has over-stepped its jurisdiction when
it accepted Public Interest Litigation (PIL) by concerned citizens to
promote good governance. Since the state has failed to control
vehicular pollution which affects public health, the court had to
intervene to stop it The state has been unable to bring back the
colossal amount of money hoarded in tax hevans and distribute
food-grains which are rotting in government godowns when the poor are
dying of hunger. The way 2G spectrum was allotted showed the malafide
intentions of the public servants. The Supreme Court has rescued the
country from poor governance. Rao seem to suggest that voting once in
five years is enough to protect the interests of the citizens. The
Supreme Court is there to provide justice to the citizens and protect
them from the willful negligence of public welfare.

Rao has taken a very narrow view of the jurisdiction of the Supreme
Court. The Supreme Court is guided by the preamble of our Constitution
(justice, liberty, equality and fraternity) and the fundamental rights
of the citizens as also the directive principles of the state policy
enshrined in the Constitution.
