It is encouraging to note that Global Positioning System (GPS) and General Packet Radio Services (GPRS) can enable authorities concerned with the task of monitoring garbage collection and disposal as well as that of construction activities, both legal and illegal. It should be a boon for all municipal corporations to promote cleanliness and prevent illegal construction. It has also helped in expediting building permissions in Hyderabad. The government of India or the state governments should ask all the municipal commissioners or their officials entrusted with the above tasks to personally visit Hyderabad and adopt the same in their respective municipalities or municipal corporations.Hyderabad shows the way for others to follow.
