Communal incidents in Bihar.

Communal Incidents in Bihar.

This is with reference to your investigative reports on the communal clashes since the BJP-JD(U) split ( 22/24 August,2015). The report does not tells us whether criminals who indulged in clashes have been punished or not. One wonders why there are no mohalla committees in all sensitive areas where these incidents occur. These committees have promoted better understanding among various communities and the police in cities like Mumbai. And they have prevented such incidents or accidents. Also there is an urgent need to give power and responsibility to the police in every town and city. The police should be given functional autonomy and be held responsible for the clashes. The police should be equipped with manpower, equipment and technology to prevent such clashes. Finger-pointing does not solve the problem but better policing does.

Education and employment of the young should be the priority. When there are no opportunities for the young, they divert energies in such activities. It is intriguing why fertile land of Gangetic plain does not offer enough opportunities to the people to prosper in their own land and people are forced to migrate to other states for a living. It is the caste and communal politics which has prevented the rise of Bihar and UP.
